Walking with Story
Walking with Stories: Pilgrimage, Narrative and Wellbeing
What happens when we slow down, walk, and begin to listen to the stories we carry? Walking with Stories is a five-day conference designed for people who are interested in the connection between movement, storytelling and wellbeing. Set within the landscapes of Exmoor and Dartmoor, this experience brings together gentle walking, reflective storytelling, narrative inquiry and elements of pilgrimage practice. This is not a traditional conference. It is a walking and reflective experience shaped through shared attention, conversation and time in nature.
Life brings transitions, questions of meaning, changes in energy and health, and a desire for reflection and connection. Walking and storytelling together can support mental clarity, emotional regulation and physical vitality. They can also help people make sense of life experiences and develop a stronger sense of continuity and meaning. The conference offers a structured but open space in which participants can explore these themes at their own pace.
A central part of the programme is a guided walking day on The Archangel’s Way on Dartmoor. This historic route connects a series of ancient sites across the moor and offers a framework for reflection through movement and place.
